The Gérard Pierre-Charles Fund has been created by the Executive Secretariat of The Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) in a supportive effort to contribute to the reconstruction of the educational institutions which have been devastated and destroyed as a consequence of the earthquake that took place in Haiti on January 12th, 2010. The Fund bears the name of Gérard Pierre-Charles (1935-2004), one of the utmost Haitian intellectuals who struggled untiringly for human rights and for the democratization of his country. |

CLACSO has contributed an initial sum of USD 50.000 (fifty thousand dollars) to the Gérard Pierre-Charles Fund to Support Reconstruction of Educational Institutions in Haiti. |

| Who can cooperate? | ||||||||||||
Every person, group of persons, institutions, movements and organizations that may be interested in supporting the aim of the Fund. |

| How to cooperate? | ||||||||||||
With donations in cash or any other kind of contribution, which shall be applied to the reconstruction of Haitian educational institutions. |

| How will the Fund be managed? | ||||||||||||
The Executive Secretariat and Executive Board at CLACSO will be in charge of gathering supportive contributions and resources, which shall be distributed among Haitian educational institutions, according to priority which shall be evaluated by a Working Group coordinated by Dr. Suzy Castor from the Centre de la Recherche et de Formation Economique et Sociale pour la Developpement (CRESFED, Port-au-Prince, Haiti). |

CLACSO will issue a certificate for each contribution and will later on submit a detailed report as to the application of the resources, to the whole community of member centers, to every contributor and to the general society. |
